Denise M. Williams, MA

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist #92559

Are you still grappling with the echoes of early-life trauma or transgenerational trauma?

Are you ready to do the work and heal?

If you answered yes then, let's talk. I bring a wealth of experience and compassion to the room, specializing in trauma informed care for Black women and women of color, working through a social justice lens. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) level one, and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy. I offer a unique and holistic approach to healing, combining the modalities mentioned above with eco therapy and urban somatic therapy in an intensive therapy setting.

Why Choose Trauma-Informed Care through a social justice lens:

Physical, verbal, emotional, and sexual trauma can leave lasting imprints on our lives, affecting our overall well-being. For women of color this is often complicated by race, gender, economics and more. Traditional talk therapy may fall short when it comes to addressing the intricate connections between mind, body, spirit. I understand that true healing involves healing the nervous system as well as the mind for optimal well-being.

What I Offer:

Expertise in trauma informed care :

My expertise lies in supporting individuals, with a particular focus on trauma in women of color. However, my compassionate approach extends to all women seeking to heal from past traumas.

Inclusive Approach:

I provides a welcoming space for clients of all backgrounds, recognizing and honoring the unique experiences each person brings to the therapeutic relationship.

Culturally Competent Care:

Tailoring therapy to acknowledge cultural nuances, I ensures that I am and practice cultural competency and am responsive to the diverse identities of my clients.

Advocacy and Empowerment:

Beyond individual healing, therapy through a social justice lens empowers clients to become advocates for change. I guide individuals in recognizing their agency and making a positive impact on their communities.

Intersectionality in Focus:

Acknowledging the intersectionality of identities, I help clients navigate the complexities of their lived experiences, recognizing the multifaceted nature of personal narratives.

Alternative Practices:

I have also created what I call social wellness and urban somatic healing. Social wellness is community + play, infused with psychoeducation which is grounded in the idea that we heal in community and provides a level of cultural healing that western therapy does not. Urban somatic healing uses various other physical activities that allow women to tap into and Release Anger Grief & other Emotions (R.A.G.E) in a way that other somatic work might not.
